Meet Melburnian Jeanette Cheney, travel blogger who conserves plots of land around the world through the Helsinki Foundation.
For my partner James and I, buying a Greenspace from the Helsinki Foundation was a really easy decision, says Jeanette Cheney. We wanted to make a tangible difference to the world without affecting the communities to which we travel. By buying a Greenspace, we knew that we were making a difference and helping to conserve a valuable area.
As an adventure traveler, Jeanette considers Tasmania a slice of heaven.
We've already bought a Greenspace in Finnish Lapland for our 6-month-old nephew as a Christmas present, says Jeanette. And we will also buy him a spot in Tasmania. Not only do we want to give him a present that is different and memorable – we want to give him something that will last his lifetime.
The Green Tier Creek land release opens on 5 April, and Greenspaces – personal plots of land that you can name - are available through helsinkifoundation.org from around $25. Greenspace owners can name their plot on the interactive map.
Helsinki Foundation is a registered environmental not-for-profit organization with a commitment to protecting forests. The land is managed by the Foundation in conjunction with local environment conservation groups and volunteers.
Jeanette will be available for press in Tasmania.
